Tukduan Banoi

Last Friday night, Pat and I decided (I agreed to go since he already prepared my hiking gears. Yey!) to go with some new friends to Tanay, Rizal to climb Mt. Irid and Mt. Palaguio. We met up with friends at Cogeo, traveled to Sta. Ines in a 4x4 jeep which shook my whole system (though I still managed to take a power nap.Hehe) We arrived in Sta. Ines at 3am and slept in the barangay’s covered court. (We have to register at the barangay hall which opens in the morning)

The actual trek started at around 8am. The trail involves crossing 11 rivers and walking on sloppy, muddy roads. We stopped at a ‘sari-sari’ store, and found pigs on a very awkward position. (No animals harmed during photo shoot)

We reached the bunker at 1pm. We put up our tents, ate late lunch and mingled with friends. The climb to the summit was set on the following day.

Fast forward to Sunday morning. There was a change of plan. Instead of going to Mt. Irid, the participants were divided into two groups. One group will go to Mt. Irid and the other will go to Mt. Tukduan Banoi. We went with the latter.

The trail to Tukduan is exposed to the heat of the sun that I felt dry, tired and thirsty all the way up (even though I drink every time we do a quick stop). Anyhow, after four hours, we reached the summit...and I felt rejuvenated!

The climb going down was fast and easy. And look, we saw a rainbow! (Too bad, the end of the rainbow is on the other side of the mountain) :)

Little Person, Big Surprise!

Hey, take a look at my Smurf's village below. See the Smurf carrying a gift (Enclosed by a circle)?

Went I met Pat last night, he grabbed my phone, clicked 'Smurf's Village' icon and transported the little blue dwarf to the real world.

Magic!:)

Door and Windows

I'm thankful that last week was over. It was a hard week---my sister was brought to the hospital (she's fine now); I didn't receive the call I was expecting and I experienced a massive headache during the weekend.

Since it is now over, I better look forward to many exciting things happening this coming months---new projects to work on; Valentine's day; a climb on the highest peak in Luzon by February and a trip to Cagayan De Oro sometime in April.

I just need to live by the words that when a door closes, a window opens (and start breaking in. Haha).

Sa Guijo, Si Ebe

Two or three weeks ago, Ebe Dancel announced on Twitter that he is leaving his band of more than a decade; the band which has a name that doesn't bear its sweetness---Sugarfree.

After several days, he tweeted that he'll play his last three gigs with this band: one in Cotabato, another in Saguijo and another one somewhere. One thing remained on my mind: I must be there.

My admiration with Sugarfree dated back in college. I got 'Sa Wakas' on casette tape and eventually got the money to buy the other albums on CD format; I'm a Yahoo Group lister (remember the time when Yahoo ruled the www); I wore Dramachine shirt and bought the famed Pulp issue where the band appeared on the cover. Mentioning these things hopefully makes me a certified Sugarfree fan.

Anyway, dream come true. I was at Saguijo last night to join other fans jump and sing with Ebe Dancel.

Start the Year with a Bang!

I finally realized that Tumblr is not really meant to be a personal blog since it is more about interaction and I cannot brag about things like this way. I decided that I should go back to my dear old blog. Anyway, the year 2010 just ended (and I failed to write a post about it since I'm too busy with other social network sites). This year, I have been to many places, conquered numerous mountain summits and got the chance to meet (and fell in love) my ultimate climbing buddy. For this year, I'm actually looking forward to travel abroad, be back to running and start my own little site. And to get things started, I let the hairstylist cut my bangs short!
